Library Student Assistants: Temporary 24-Hour Position

Purpose
The library is seeking UFS postgraduate students (honours, master’s, or doctorate level) to work at the library on an hourly basis.
Successful candidates will be responsible for various library operations, including issuing and returning of library materials and providing assistance with all library activities. Hours of operation will vary according to the conditions of the current need. Working hours and rosters will be directed by the head of the section. In-service training will be provided to the successful candidates.
Main duties and responsibilities
You will be required to work shifts from 22:00 until 07:45 (overnight).
The main responsibilities will include assisting with lending and returning library materials and answering general information queries, in accordance with LIS policies and procedures. Assistance will also be required with general administrative tasks and monitoring student behaviour to ensure a conducive study environment.
Selection Criteria
- Proof of current year registration as a postgraduate student at the UFS.
- Ability to use initiative and work independently with minimal or no supervision.
- Commitment to providing excellent client services, including the ability to respond promptly and courteously to client requests.
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to effectively use KovsieCat, MS Office, and the internet.
