At the core of all postgraduate courses, is the facilitation of mobility and development of agricultural extensionists, as reflected in the National Extension Recovery Plan of the South African Government. Academic programme development is characterised by relevant and integrated teaching and learning to develop lifelong learning skills that will enable graduates to work in unfamiliar and variable contexts.

Given South Africa’s high levels of skills shortages, higher education is deemed necessary to get human capital investment to efficient levels. The centre works in close collaboration with private and government-owned institutions to develop their personnel, and the majority of our students are funded by these institutions.
