Juggling the demands of work, family and other obligations, can make life stressful. With rising responsibilities at work and at home, there are moments when we all require additional assistance in balancing the demands of daily life. The EAP powered by Careways employs professionally qualified Counsellors and Therapists, who are experienced in helping people to deal with all kinds of practical and emotional issues such as Well-being, family matters, relationships, debt management, workplace issues, and much more. Guidance and resources for coping more effectively with a variety of personal and work-related challenges are offered. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential service that provides employees and household members the opportunity to discuss personal or work-related problems with a professional counsellor/therapist.



Your EAP is paid for by UFS as a support service for you as an employee, thus there is no cost to employees and their household members to use the EAP service. You don’t need to ask your manager to use the EAP, you can just call 0800 004 770 and you can speak to a professional counsellor in confidence. The EAP service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for crisis situations. Employees and their household members are entitled to four free face-to-face counselling sessions per issue, or unlimited telephonic counselling sessions.



Balancing the needs of your family with your job responsibilities isn't easy. It can be particularly difficult if you have a legal or financial issue, and you are not sure where to turn for help. As part of the EAP, legal and financial consultation services are available to you and your family.


  • Financial Consultation:
    • The EAP offers you up to a 60-minute telephone consultation with a financial counsellor on issues such as budgeting, debt consolidation, loans, mortgage assistance, retirement, and other financial topics.
  • Legal Consultation:
  • You can receive up to a 60-minute telephone consultation with a legal expert on any type of legal matter. The 60-minute offering is available for one consultation per topic each year.



Confidentiality is the foundation of the service and Careways is bound by professional standards regarding confidentiality and the disclosure of details of individuals who have contacted them. Information revealed by an individual through consultation with an EAP coordinator is kept confidential and doesn't become part of the individual's employment record.
