Genius Murwirapachena is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics and Finance where he teaches Mathematical Economics, Statistics for Economics and coordinates the Spatial Economics module. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Nelson Mandela University as well as a Master of Commerce in Economics, a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics (Honours) and a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Management and Economics from the University of Fort Hare. His research interests are in the areas of water and resource economics, local economic development, and public service delivery. He is involved in environmental valuation (using discrete choice experiment and contingent valuation methods) and efficiency benchmarking (using data envelopment analysis - DEA, stochastic frontier analysis - SFA, and the stochastic non-parametric envelopment of data - StoNED).
