Senior Lecturer and Academic Advisor at the University of the Free State: Currently, I am delving into the broader research area of "Metacognitive Strategies for the Success of Undergraduate Health Sciences Students.". 

Post Doctoral fellowship at CUT: In the project, new information was provided on the diverse mechanisms of action of different essential oils (thyme, red thyme, lavender, sage, clove, peppermint, etc.) against antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The project contributes to the field of food safety by providing alternative options to address the antibiotic-resistance challenge

PhD experimental research at CUT: An investigation of essential oils as antimicrobial agents against antibiotic-resistant bacteria isolated at South African Hospices

M.Sc. experimental research at CUT: The relationship between aerosolised microbiota and environmental surfaces at a typical district hospital in South Africa

Honours experimental research at UFS: The possible hosts of Thermus species for effective expression of thermophilic proteins

As a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Student Learning and Development (DSLD), my areas of expertise encompass several key domains that contribute to enhancing the academic experience and success of students. These areas include:

1. Academic Advising and Support: I provide tailored academic guidance to students, helping them navigate their educational pathways, overcome challenges, and develop effective learning strategies.

2. Curriculum Development: I am involved in designing and implementing innovative curricula that foster student engagement and address diverse learning needs, ensuring that educational programs are relevant and impactful.

3. Research in Educational Methodologies: My focus on researching effective teaching and learning strategies allows me to contribute to the evidence base that informs best practices in higher education, particularly within health sciences.

4. Mentorship and Supervision: I mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students, guiding them through their academic journeys and supporting their research initiatives, thus fostering the next generation of health professionals.

5. Workshop Facilitation: I develop and lead workshops aimed at enhancing students’ academic skills, including time management, study techniques, and critical thinking, which are essential for academic success.

6. Collaboration and Partnerships: I actively engage with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to create a supportive learning environment, promoting collaboration that enhances student learning outcomes.

7. Assessment and Evaluation: I am skilled in assessing student performance and learning outcomes, utilizing data to inform instructional practices and improve educational programs.
