Prof Champion Nyoni, is an Associate Professor at the School of Nursing of the University of the Free State. He is an NRF rated researcher who publishes in the field of health professions education. His research focuses on developing a competent health workforce within low-resource settings. Specifically, he is engaged in research within the transfer of learning niche area- where he focuses on interprofessional education, curriculum development, faculty development, assessment and teaching and learning. He supervises masters and doctoral candidates within nursing and health professions education at the UFS and collaborates globally in his research interests.

Prof Nyoni serves on numerous education and healthcare related boards. He is the Chairperson of the Interprofessional.Global, a global confederation of Regional Interprofessional Education Networks. He is also the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Association for Health Professions Education and Leadership (AHPEL). He is a board member of the Africa Interprofessional Education Network (AfrIPEN) and the Pan African Consortium on Technology Enhanced Education (PaCOTEH). He serves as a member of the World Health Organization Advisory Board for the WHO Academy based in Lyon France and further serves as advisor to the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). He serves on the Senate for the Paray School of Nursing in Lesotho. Prof Nyoni is an advisor to the Sigma Theta Tau International (Sigma) Nurse Education Development Academy based in the United States.
