Do you ever wonder about the turns your career or study path will take? To eliminate some of the doubts students may have, the Legae Residence on our South Campus hosted a motivational evening with two guest speakers sharing their life and career journeys.

The road to success and failure

The literary activist Flaxman Qoopane, director and curator of the Qoopane Literacy Gallery, was the main speaker. The other was Setjhaba Maphalla, a former CPP student who subsequently passed his degree in BA Media Studies cum laude at Kovsies. He is now the Director of Corporate Communication in the Office of the Premier.

Setjhaba told the students: “The road to success and the road to failure are similar; choose wisely and make sure you succeed in the future.”

Charismatic personality and words of wisdom

“The event was very successful. Mr Qoopane left the house speechless with his charismatic personality and words of wisdom. They were amazed and motivated, which served the purpose of the evening,” says Gali Malebo, residence head of Legae.

The evening was made possible by the support of Prof Daniella Coetzee, South Campus Principal, in collaboration with Lianda Coetzer from Library and Information Services (South Campus).
