Short CV

Marga Stander holds a PhD in Afrikaans (Applied Linguistics) from Vista University. She also completed a BA in Drama and Theatre Arts, a BA Honours in Afrikaans an MA in Afrikaans (Sociolinguistics) from the UFS, as well as a BEd Honours in Deaf Education (Wits). She obtained a TEFL certificate (Trinity, London) and received two Excellence in Teaching and Learning Awards. She is currently a lecturer/researcher in the CTL and coordinator in the Unit for Language Development (ULD), Qwaqwa Campus. Previously, she was a senior lecturer in Afrikaans Linguistics on the Qwaqwa Campus, a facilitator in the Academic Literacy programme, teacher of English, Visual Arts and South African Sign Language, and facilitator and researcher. She presented courses on Linguistics and Literature on undergraduate and postgraduate level. She published several articles on second-language acquisition, learning strategies and plagiarism. She also reviewed books on Applied Linguistics and second-language acquisition. She was project leader for several studies on second-language acquisition and plagiarism.
