This workshop was presented by the Staff Wellness Division of the Health and Wellness Centre and took place on 17 May 2013 on the UFS Bloemfontein campus.

Mr Willem Ellis (Director for the Centre for Development Support and Affiliated Researcher) facilitated the workshop and academic and support staff attended.

Background:

The modern workplace can be a very stressful environment. Advances in technology often increase the pace at which we work – sometimes making things easier and other times complicating them. A constant factor that remains is that we have to work with colleagues – sometimes more and sometimes less successfully. Potential for conflict in the workplace remains and addressing latent and open conflict in the workplace remains important when striving for maximum productivity and wellness in an organisation.

Outcomes:

  • Sensitise participants regarding their own “conflict profiles”.
  • Assist participants in addressing current issues of conflict in the workplace.
  • Enable participants to address conflict issues in the workplace pro-actively.
