MEX354: Aerobic Day at Olympia Primary School

The group of third-year students allocated to the Olympia Primary School also presented an Aerobics Day which formed part of their service learning project for the MEX354 module.

They divided the children into groups of four. Four "stations" was allocated to these students through which they could rotate. These four stations included yoga, kick-boxing and aerobic exercises and also a occupational therapy "action course" for the children. This action course was presented by fourth-year Occupational Therapy students from the UFS to help the children with the development of their cognitive and motor abilities.

The four different stations and exercises were chosen with the purpose to develop physical exercise and motor and hand-eye coordination of the children.

At the end of the sessions the students also presented a short training session about the dangers of sunburn and the necessity to stay hydrated by rather playing in the shade of trees during the hottest time of the day.

As can be seen from the following photos the children thoroughly enjoyed this Aerobic Day.
