Community Health Projects (MEX354)

As part of the training of the third-year medical students in the subjed Health and Diseases in Populations, the Faculty of Health Sciences allocate groups of students to a variety of Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) in the Bloemfontein environment. The students do a needs assessment of what the specific organisation needs and then try to meet the needs (medical and non-medical). The living and working conditions of a society largely determine the health of that community. The students try to meet the needs of the NGOs primarily through fundraising projects.
