The impact that the Nursing Education Practical Module (OVP105) has on communities was appreciated during the post-graduate nursing students presentations on 09 October 2012.
Partners who witnessed the occasion included representatives from non-profit organisations, service learning, community engagement and lecturers. The twenty-credit year course entails a pre-activity situation analysis exercise. The outcomes of the course further entails that a student should develop a curriculum, plan lessons and present it in the community.
Celebration and acknowledgment of partnerships marked the highlight of the day's affairs. As facilitators of the Module, Mrs Ielse Seale and Mrs Karen Venter shared their respective experiences through their engagement with the course. In the same way the students and the community partners also expressed individual growth by communicating their reflections.
Towards conclusion, the guests watched a video clip that showed the entire project's activities. It therefore became evident that the module provides a safe learning environment to equip all the contributors with life-long skills.
