The EDSA Prestige Awards align closely with the University of the Free State Vision 130, reflecting the university’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, societal impact, and inclusivity. These awards celebrate students whose achievements embody the pillars of Vision 130. By recognising individuals who excel in academics, leadership, and community service, the awards amplify the university’s dedication to shaping graduates who are not only globally competitive but also deeply rooted in addressing regional and national challenges.

The EDSA Prestige Awards were established in 2022 to celebrate and honour students whose contributions align with the strategic goals of the University of the Free State (UFS) as well as the Division of Student Affairs (DSA). The Executive Director: Student Affairs (EDSA) Prestige Awards aim to recognise students who contribute to the university’s mission and objectives, as well as those of the Department of Student Affairs – through innovation, community service excellence, and/or sustained exceptional performance in an area or areas beneficial to UFS and its strategic objectives. These awards are institutional, encompassing all three campuses (Bloemfontein, Qwaqwa and South Campus).
