Did you know that carrots were not always orange? In the 16th century, Dutch farmers decided to pay tribute to William of Orange – a key figure in Dutch history – by cultivating orange carrots. Before that, these veggies came in a spectrum of hues such as purple, yellow, and white. The orange variety caught on and, well, the rest is snack history!
