14 October 2024: How can we contribute to a world with #Zerohunger

Did you know that in two days’ time – on 16 October – it is World Food Day? It's a day to celebrate the importance of food and reflect on how we can contribute to a world with #ZeroHunger. Read about the efforts of the university’s No Student Hungry (NSH) Programme, which aims to provide healthy food options to the most vulnerable students with an excellent academic record.

Watch the video to see how different departments on campus are working together to fight hunger. The versatile pilchard is a key ingredient, paired with pasta, rice, and bread—all included in the food parcels distributed by NSH. Plus, we serve a coleslaw made from fresh produce harvested in tunnels managed by the Department of Sustainable Food Systems and Development and Kovsie ACT. The recipes were tried and tested by lecturers and students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics.
