Mask’Unity

The Residence Health and Wellness coordinators in collaboration with the UFS Wellness centre is hosting a Mask’Unity conference (men’s conference) at the Equitas Auditorium on 21 October 2022. The theme of the event is, Remove your mask and speak out!

The purpose of the event is to host conversations on masculinity issues, men and mental health, and have guest speakers to come in and encourage our guys about the importance of opening up. The Mask’Unity conference will encourage young men to take off their masks and be open about their internal battles, so that they can possibly receive the tools they need to navigate their way out of their situations instead of bottling them up.

The guest speakers include but are not limited to Mr Tshepang Mahlatsi (Next Chapter), Higher Health Organization, Mr Chelepe Mocwana (UFS Institutional Change and Social Justice), and Prof Solomon Makola (CUT Campus Principal).

The following topics will be tackled:

• Men + Mental Health
• Communication Skills
• GBV and Stereotypes
• Men’s Health Program (Sexual Reproductive Health)
• Concept of Consent

Live performances by Kovsie students. Refreshment swill be served before and after the event.
