Federation of African Law Students dialogue

Invitation: Federation of African Law Students dialogue
24 May 2023 12:00 -24 May 2023 15:00
Sasol Library, Bloemfontein Campus

The Federation of African Law Students UFS Chapter will host a panel discussion based on the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Bill. The student association stands against this bill and firmly believes that it is unprogressive for society and unfairly discriminates against the LGBTQ+ community. The objective of this event is to promote good governance, respect for human rights, peace, and justice in Africa. It is also an opportunity to show solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community across the continent who may be affected by the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Bill.

Speakers will share their bill views and opinions on homophobia, and attendees will be given the opportunity to engage with panellists. The panellists will include Prof John Mubangizi (former Dean of the Faculty of Law and current Research Professor in the Free State Centre for Human Rights); Prof Mikateko Mathebula (Associate Professor: Centre for Development Support); Khanya Motshabi (Senior Lecturer: Advanced Human Rights); and Akhona Komeni (Peer Mentor Supervisor: Free State Rainbow Seeds).
