The safety and living conditions of our students are of paramount importance.  The accreditation of off-campus accommodation is a vital process for the University of the Free State (UFS).  Through accreditation the UFS wants to ensure that its students stay in a living and learning environment that is safe, affordable  and conducive for academic excellence.

The accreditation process is based on the Higher Education Act: Policy on Minimum Norms and Standards for Student Housing at Public Universities, and various local student accommodation municipal by-laws  to ensure that the quality of accommodation is standardised.
