Short story competition

The Academy for Multilingualism at the University of the Free State (UFS) invites staff and students of the UFS to participate in a Sesotho Short Story Competition. The most captivating stories will be published in a book that will be published in 2024.

The judges are inviting submissions of original short stories (which have never been published before) in the beautiful language of Sesotho, and aspiring authors are requested to keep their stories to a maximum of 10 pages, with illustrations included if the book is to include illustrations.

To submit your story, please email it to AfM@ufs.ac.za, ensuring that the subject line reads 'Sesotho Short Story Competition 2023'. The closing date for submissions is 30 August 2023, offering ample time for your imaginative work to be polished to perfection.

The announcement of the winning stories will take place in November 2023. The Academy and the judges look forward to applauding the exceptional talent that will surely emerge from this competition!
