About the speaker

Premier Mxolisi Dukwana has a rich and impactful history in public service. In 1994, during the first year of democracy, he assumed the pivotal role of Commissioner of the Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP). His commitment to the development of South Africa continued when he served as the Free State’s Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education from 1996 to 1998.

Premier Dukwana then became the Chief Whip of the majority party, the African National Congress (ANC), in the Free State Legislature. He served as Deputy Speaker of the Legislature from 1999 to 2001, actively participating in various committees within both the Legislature and the ANC.

He became Speaker of the Free State Legislature in 2001, and later served as MEC for Community Safety and Transport and MEC for Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs.

Premier Dukwana served as ANC Provincial Treasurer in 2005 and was re-elected in 2008. His illustrious career culminated in his election as Free State Premier on 24 February 2023.

We invite you to join us in celebrating a legacy of public service and to engage in a discourse that paves the way for a brighter and more progressive future. We look forward to your participation in this significant event.
