Kovsie Advice

The mid-year exams are creeping closer. That means endless hours – or that is what it feels like – of studying, and coffee by the dozens. You are not alone; the academic advising team from the Centre for Teaching and Learning has created a Kovsie Advice to help you during the dark times.

This edition of Kovsie Advice will help you keep your eye on the prize during this upcoming mid-year exam.

You can find tips on how to prepare for the exams, how to deal with exam stress, and how to overcome failures. Also be on the lookout for faculty-specific information from your faculty’s Teaching and Learning Office.

Be inspired to aim for more, and to realise your dreams.

Enjoy reading!

2008-12-01

Mr JB van den Berg from Bothaville was this year firstly honoured as the Free State’s Young Farmer of the Year and recently he was also named the National Young Farmer of the Year. In 2004 Mr Van den Berg received his master’s degree on the application of strategic planning and marketing in sustainable wheat production at the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development at the University of the Free State (UFS). This year he also registered to continue with his Ph.D. studies in the centre. He is the sole shareholder in the farming company JBT Boerdery. His turnover doubled from 2005 to 2007 and his farm’s profit also increased. Here he is with his wife, Cornél.
