With the second semester well underway, you may feel overwhelmed by the academic pressure and you aren’t sure how to find your way out of this maze. UFS to lodge application to appeal judgment about new Language Policy

2016-07-22

The judgment by the Free State High Court on 21 July 2016, upholding an application by AfriForum and Solidarity to have the decisions by the Council and Senate of the University of the Free State (UFS) about the new Language Policy reviewed, was referred for external advice by senior and junior counsel on instruction of the university’s attorneys.

The advice is that the High Court judgment is, with respect, erroneous in relation to legal principles and factual matters, which are both fundamental and far-reaching.

The UFS is, under the circumstances, to lodge an application to appeal the judgment to the Supreme Court of Appeal.
