Dr Nadine Lake, gender studies expert from the Centre for Gender and Africa Studies at the UFS, will participate in a streamed online Facebook discussion on ‘men and masculinities and finding ways of solving conflict and work towards healing the victims, the survivors, the perpetrators.’  This is the 13th episode of the #DigtallyYours discussion series initiated by the embassies of Sweden and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in SA, with support from the European Union in SA. The discussion will be moderated by renowned journalist, Redi Tlhabi.

Other panellists will include Mmatshilo Motsei, S’busiso Malope, Ruben Richards, and Xabiso Vili.

The discussion will be livestreamed on the Facebook page of the Embassy of Sweden as well as the Facebook page of the UFS on Wednesday 5 August 2020 from 15:00.

Fulbright Scholarship awarded to Kovsie Academic

 Mrs Ronette Lategan

Mrs Ronette Lategan, Ph.D. student and Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Free State, has been awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to work on her Ph.D. in the United States of America. Mrs Lategan is one of only 22 South Africans awarded the scholarship to study in the United States for the 2010-2011 academic year. She will be based at the Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences Department of Florida State University and conduct her research from August 2010 to August 2011. She will join the research group of Prof. Jasminka ilich-Ernst. Through participating in the research group, Mrs Lategan aims to complete her Ph.D. in the field of Nutrigenomics, focusing on hypertension.
