Within the next five years, 60% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. Urban living comes with large-scale economic advantages and society benefits from economies of scale. But, COVID-19 is challenging urban living. We have introduced the term ‘social distancing’ and some policy analysts have even argued for the de-densification of cities.

Staff attend international conferences

Three staff members of the Department of Business Management at the University of the Free State (UFS) recently attended two international conferences, namely the Edineb 15th International Conference in Malaga, Spain with the theme "Advances in Business Education and Training" and the 2008 ICSB World Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The theme of this conference was "Advancing Small Business and Entrepreneurship: From Research to Results". They delivered altogether seven papers at the conferences. Here are, from the left: Prof. Rudolph van Buuren, Dr Orpha Lotz and Dr Johan van Zyl.
