Within the next five years, 60% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. Urban living comes with large-scale economic advantages and society benefits from economies of scale. But, COVID-19 is challenging urban living. We have introduced the term ‘social distancing’ and some policy analysts have even argued for the de-densification of cities.

MBA students receive direct training from the USA

Dr Karen Thomas, Senior Lecturer at the University of the Free Stat's (UFS) Department of Economics, recently arranged a Skype link with the Mississippi State University in the United States of America (USA) during which a lecture on the American economy was presented directly. The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the UFS has a cooperation agreement with the Mississippi State University which includes the exchange of lecturers and students, as well as research and possible internships for their students in South Africa.
