Within the next five years, 60% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. Urban living comes with large-scale economic advantages and society benefits from economies of scale. But, COVID-19 is challenging urban living. We have introduced the term ‘social distancing’ and some policy analysts have even argued for the de-densification of cities.

Prof. Hennie van Coller elected as chairperson of the SA Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns

Prof. Hennie van Coller, head of the department of Afrikaans and Dutch, German and French at the University of the Free State, was recently elected as chairperson of the SA Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns during a meeting held in Bellville.
He will take up the position in Pretoria after the Academy's annual meeting in June.
