Within the next five years, 60% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. Urban living comes with large-scale economic advantages and society benefits from economies of scale. But, COVID-19 is challenging urban living. We have introduced the term ‘social distancing’ and some policy analysts have even argued for the de-densification of cities.

Reach-out project for victims of crime

The Faculty of Theology at the University of the Free State (UFS) and other subject fields such as law, criminology and psychology recently launched a reach-out project in cooperation with the Dutch Reformed Church Uitsig for victims of crime. A workshop was presented to create an awareness of victims of crime amongst the congregation and members of the community.
Some of the UFS staff who presented the workshop were from the front left Ms Herma Foster (lecturer at the UFS Department of Criminology) and Advocate Beatri Kruger (lecturer at the UFS Department of Criminal and Medical Law)
