Within the next five years, 60% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. Urban living comes with large-scale economic advantages and society benefits from economies of scale. But, COVID-19 is challenging urban living. We have introduced the term ‘social distancing’ and some policy analysts have even argued for the de-densification of cities.

Students receive medals for their achievements

Students from the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at the University of the Free State (UFS) were honoured for their achievements during the autumn graduation ceremony held on the Main Campus in Bloemfontein. From the left, are: Mr Japie Lowings (M.Com in Mathematical Statistics, who received a Dean's medal for best masters degree student in the faculty), Ms Nicola Jandrell (B.Com.Hons. Actuarial Science, who received a Dean's medal for the best honours student in the faculty) and Mr Louis Theron (B.Com.Hons. Actuarial Science, who also received a Dean's medal for the best honours student in the faculty).
