Within the next five years, 60% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. Urban living comes with large-scale economic advantages and society benefits from economies of scale. But, COVID-19 is challenging urban living. We have introduced the term ‘social distancing’ and some policy analysts have even argued for the de-densification of cities.

Dean elected as a director on the Landbank Board

Prof. Herman van Schalkwyk, Dean of the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences at the University of the Free State (UFS), has been elected for a period of four years as a director on the Landbank Board by the Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs, Ms Lulu Xingwana. Earlier this year, he was elected by Minister Xingwana as a member of the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC).
