Within the next five years, 60% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas.  Urban living comes with large-scale economic advantages and society benefits from economies of scale. But, COVID-19 is challenging urban living. We have introduced the term ‘social distancing’ and some policy analysts have even argued for the de-densification of cities.

Join us for a discussion where our panellists will analyse this perceived conflict.

Law students recognised for their achievements

As part of the University of the Free State's (UFS) autumn graduation ceremony, the Faculty of Law this week gave recognition to students who excelled during 2007. Here are, from the left, front: Prof. Johan Henning, Dean: Faculty of Law, Mss Marieke Dahms, best second-year LLB. student, and Ailene Ferns, best first-year student in the five-year LLB. programme, back: Messrs Albert Nell, best third-year LLB. student, Simele Shange, exemplary service to the Juridical Society, and Willers, best first-year student in LLB. Mr Nell received altogether eight prizes.
