Within the next five years, 60% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas. Urban living comes with large-scale economic advantages and society benefits from economies of scale. But, COVID-19 is challenging urban living. We have introduced the term ‘social distancing’ and some policy analysts have even argued for the de-densification of cities.

DimTec students get Masters degrees

Two students from the Disaster Management Training and Education Centre for Africa (DiMTEC) at the University of the Free State (UFS) received their Masters degrees in Disaster Management during the autumn graduation ceremony on the Main Campus in Bloemfontein this week. DimTec is a centre within the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences at the UFS. Pictured, from the left are: Mzamani Isaac Khoza and Mmaphaka Ephraim Tau.
