Every year on 9 August, South Africa commemorates the 20 000 women who marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria against pass laws in 1956. 

Today, the University of the Free State celebrates its scientists, sports stars, surgeons, and so many more of its women where they not only add value to society in their professions, but also contribute to better the lives of others.

Wherever you find yourself as a woman today – in the support services, in management, as a service worker, as a student, as an alumna, a donor, or a business partner – the UFS shines a spotlight on you as women who are making a positive impact on a daily basis.

Government officials successfully complete leadership programme at the UFS

Thirty government officials successfully completed the Executive Management and Leadership Programme (EMLP) in the Programme: Public Sector Management at the University of the Free State (UFS). The programme is presented by the Department of Public Management at the UFS. The Premier of the Free State, Ms Beatrice Marshoff, was a guest at the certificate ceremony. She handed the certificates to the successful students who are from the Departments of Education, Local Government and Housing, and Agriculture. At the occasion were, from the left: Prof. Hendri Kroukamp, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, Prof. Teuns Verschoor, Acting Rector, Ms Marshoff, and Prof. Moses Sindane, Head of the Department of Public Management.
