The Department of Haematology and Cell Biology at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of the Free State (UFS) represented the university at the finals of the National Innovation Competition 2009-10, held at the Moses Mabida Stadium in Durban in August 2010. The competition is organised by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), a public entity of the Department of Science and Technology, which supports and enables technological innovation to achieve socio-economic benefits for South Africa. The UFS entry received a top-ten award with their business plan titled Haemostasis testing facility. Their business plan is based on their master’s projects.
