Pura Mgolombane, Dean: Student Affairs
Welcome to the University of the Free State! This is an opportunity to enjoy yourself and have the best years of your life. This is the message from Pura Mgolombane, Dean: Student Affairs at the University of the Free State, to new first-year students.
About 7900 new first-year students will start their study journey at the UFS this year, and Pura has some advice for the new Kovsies.

Language Day celebration at the UFS

The Department of Afrikaans and Dutch, German and French recently held a Language Day Festival to coincide with the National Language Day. The purpose of the festival was for staff members to have language-related fun around a typical braaivleis with traditional boerewors and a Dutch stroopwafel. Staff members were treated to, amongst other activities: Afrikaans, Dutch, German and French music, a DVD about the translation project by Prof. Naomi Morgan, and a short drama. Pictured are staff members of the department performing in a drama as part of the days festivities.
