Welcome to the University of the Free State! This is an opportunity to enjoy yourself and have the best years of your life. This is the message from Pura Mgolombane, Dean: Student Affairs at the University of the Free State, to new first-year students.
About 7900 new first-year students will start their study journey at the UFS this year, and Pura has some advice for the new Kovsies.

Kovsies ladies’ and men’s basketball first teams showed off their expertise on the court – hosting a camp for first-year students. Shooting hoops at the two Callie Human outdoor courts, the teams helped about 150 first-year students through drills, skills challenges and games.
Men’s first-team player, Clemen Kock, says the new-comers, a mix of first-time and experienced basketball players, had “a mad time” on the court learning new skills. “We are looking forward to a great year of academics mixed with some crazy basketball with a Res-Campus League kicking off soon.”
