Pura Mgolombane, Dean: Student Affairs
Welcome to the University of the Free State! This is an opportunity to enjoy yourself and have the best years of your life. This is the message from Pura Mgolombane, Dean: Student Affairs at the University of the Free State, to new first-year students.
About 7900 new first-year students will start their study journey at the UFS this year, and Pura has some advice for the new Kovsies.

Kovsies excel in Algeria

South Africa's badminton players have won gold in the team competition of the African championships during December in Algiers, Algeria.
The University of the Free State's players in the team, Chris and Roelof Dednam, in addition added more gold by winning the men's doubles title in the individual championship, while their fellow Kovsie, Wiaan Viljoen with his partner, Dorian James, played against the Dednam-brothers in the finals which brought him and South Africa the silver medal in that event.
Chris Dednam and Wiaan Viljoen increased their country's medals by also winning two bronze in the men's singles event.
