The last group of students that participated in our 2011 Leadership for Change Programme are on their way back to South Africa. The group of 35 students visited universities in Europe, the USA and Japan earlier this month. They are part of 150 first-year students that were selected to take part in the Leadership for Change Programme in 2011. The first group of 115 students travelled abroad in September and October 2011. The Leadership for Change Programme is aimed at exposing students to diverse cultures and to enable them to learn leadership skills. The goal of the programme is to build a new class of UFS students who become leaders during their years of study and commit to building a non-racial community during and beyond their years at university.
