Kovsies wins intervarsity against North-West University
2010-08-10
Of the 22 matches that the students from the University of the Free State (UFS) played against the North-West University (NWU) during the Intervarsity this year, they won 11 matches and lost 10. Although the FNB Shimlas lost by the skin of their teeth (18-21) against the FNB NWU Pukke, Kovsies triumphed in various other areas. The UFS’s soccer first team beat NWU 1-0. On the golf course matters also turned out well when NWU lost 1-7 against the UFS. The UFS are also very proud of its men’s and women’s tennis teams that beat NWU with 26 matches against their 4.
This year’s Intervarsity boasted quite a few changes. Kovsies invited the other campuses of the NWU to participate in the Intervarsity and our Qwaqwa Campus was also involved for the first time. - Leonie Bolleurs
