Helen Zille is a South African journalist, activist, and politician who served as the national leader (2007-2015) of the Democratic Alliance (DA), the official opposition party in South Africa. She was also Premier of the Western Cape from 2009 until 2019. Zille’s autobiography, Not without a Fight, was published in 2016.
UFS academics receive national award for article

Three academics from the Department of Agricultural Economics at the University of the Free State (UFS) were recently awarded the Douw Greeff Prize from the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns. The prize in awarded to a research or summary article of high scientific quality that was published in the SA Tydskrif vir Natuurwetenskap en Tegnologie during the year preceding the prize. Here are Dr Herman Booysen (left), NetGroep SA by die departement, and Prof. Giel Viljoen. The other member of the team, Prof. Gawie de Villiers, was absent when the photo was taken.
