Helen Zille is a South African journalist, activist, and politician who served as the national leader (2007-2015) of the Democratic Alliance (DA), the official opposition party in South Africa. She was also Premier of the Western Cape from 2009 until 2019. Zille’s autobiography, Not without a Fight, was published in 2016.
Student in Sustainable Agriculture honoured as leader in agriculture

Mr JB van den Berg from Bothaville was this year firstly honoured as the Free State’s Young Farmer of the Year and recently he was also named the National Young Farmer of the Year. In 2004 Mr Van den Berg received his master’s degree on the application of strategic planning and marketing in sustainable wheat production at the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development at the University of the Free State (UFS). This year he also registered to continue with his Ph.D. studies in the centre. He is the sole shareholder in the farming company JBT Boerdery. His turnover doubled from 2005 to 2007 and his farm’s profit also increased. Here he is with his wife, Cornél.
