Helen Zille is a South African journalist, activist, and politician who served as the national leader (2007-2015) of the Democratic Alliance (DA), the official opposition party in South Africa. She was also Premier of the Western Cape from 2009 until 2019. Zille’s autobiography, Not without a Fight, was published in 2016.
Institute for Groundwater studies appoints a new director

The Institute for Groundwater Studies (IGS) at the University of the Free State (UFS) recently appointed Dr Ingrid Dennis (pictured) as its new director. Dr Dennis comes with an impressive academic and professional record and has received numerous rewards for excellence both in her studies and professional career. She is a member of the International Hydro geological Association and the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions. She succeeds in this position Prof. Frank Hodgson who has since retired after more than thirty years of service.
