Helen Zille is a South African journalist, activist, and politician who served as the national leader (2007-2015) of the Democratic Alliance (DA), the official opposition party in South Africa. She was also Premier of the Western Cape from 2009 until 2019. Zille’s autobiography, Not without a Fight, was published in 2016.
Staff attend arts management symposium

Staff from the University of the Free State’s (UFS) Department of Drama and Theatre Arts recently attended the South African Arts Management Symposium, held at the Baxter Theatre Centre in Cape Town. Topics such as programmatic and institutional marketing, fund-raising, and strategic planning were discussed by Mr Michael Kaiser, President of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts at the Kennedy Institute in the United States of America. Here are, from the left: Ms Emmie van Wyk (Lecturer in Arts Management at the UFS Department and Drama and Theatre Arts), Mr Kaiser, Mr Chris de Bruyn (Manager at the Institute for Arts Management and Development, North-West University), and Mr Thys Heydenrych (Lecturer at the UFS Department of Drama and Theatre Arts).
