Dr Samantha Potgieter, infectious disease expert at the Universitas Academic Hospital and affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of the Free State (UFS), will answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and its affects.  

The webinar will address questions such as the following:

• what vaccination is and how it works
• how vaccines are developed and how we know they are safe and effective
• how the COVID-19 vaccine works and how it can protect you
• the side effects of the vaccine
• the risks vs benefits of the vaccine.

A fluffy white blanket is bringing the chills to our Qwaqwa Campus

Just when we thought the worst of the winter chills were over, a new blanket of snow has turned our Qwaqwa Campus in the Eastern Free State into a winter wonderland.

Staff and students on the Qwaqwa Campus have had to brave the cold on Monday and instead of making snowmen, had to attend classes and go about their daily duties. The freezing weather unfortunately also had a negative impact on people hoping to visit the campus and surrounding areas, as several roads were closed due to the snowfall.
