Dr Samantha Potgieter, infectious disease expert at the Universitas Academic Hospital and affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of the Free State (UFS), will answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and its affects.

The webinar will address questions such as the following:

• what vaccination is and how it works
• how vaccines are developed and how we know they are safe and effective
• how the COVID-19 vaccine works and how it can protect you
• the side effects of the vaccine
• the risks vs benefits of the vaccine.

Students to Norway and Hungary for research agreement

2005-09-05

Students from the University of the Free State's (UFS) Department of
Microbial, Biochemical and Food Biotechnology will visit Norway and Hungary for three weeks as part of the SA/Norway and SA/Hungary research agreement on indigenous foods in Africa. The project aims to isolate starter cultures from indigenous fermented products with the intention to commercialise these cultures.
