Dr Samantha Potgieter, infectious disease expert at the Universitas Academic Hospital and affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of the Free State (UFS), will answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and its affects.  

The webinar will address questions such as the following:

• what vaccination is and how it works
• how vaccines are developed and how we know they are safe and effective
• how the COVID-19 vaccine works and how it can protect you
• the side effects of the vaccine
• the risks vs benefits of the vaccine.

Astro hockey project one of the university’s biggest sport investments

A group of hockey players of the University of the Free State's (UFS) men and ladies first teams recently played on the new astro fields on the Main Campus in Bloemfontein for the first time. The R16 million astro hockey project is one of the university’s biggest sport investments. The project, in which five schools are partners, commenced eighteen months ago. The fields will be used by students and learners.
