Dr Samantha Potgieter, infectious disease expert at the Universitas Academic Hospital and affiliated Lecturer in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of the Free State (UFS), will answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and its affects.

The webinar will address questions such as the following:

• what vaccination is and how it works
• how vaccines are developed and how we know they are safe and effective
• how the COVID-19 vaccine works and how it can protect you
• the side effects of the vaccine
• the risks vs benefits of the vaccine.

American delegation visits UFS Centre for Plant Health Management (CePHMa)

The Centre for Plant Health Management (CePHMa) in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of the Free State (UFS) hosted visitors from the Virginia Cooperative Extension Agents and Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in the United States of America (USA). Opportunities to establish co-operative research, training, outreach programmes and student exchange activities in southern Africa were discussed among others. From the left, are:
