This year, the University of the Free State will witness one of its biggest graduation seasons yet. A total of 19 ceremonies will take place this April. The Qwaqwa Campus will host four ceremonies from 14 to 15 April and the Bloemfontein Campus will host fifteen celebrations from 18 to 22 April 2023.
A grand total of 8 628 graduates will walk across the stage throughout the seven days. In addition, four honorary doctorates will also be conferred. Prof Stephen Brown will be awarded the Council Medal, Prof Mattheus Lötter is to receive the Chancellor's Medal.

Biostatistics celebrates 25 years at the UFS

Die Departement Biostatistiek in die Fakulteit Gesondheidswetenskappe aan die Universiteit van die Vrystaat (UV) het onlangs sy 25ste bestaansjaar gevier. Die departement, wat die eerste en enigste van sy soort aan 'n Suid-Afrikaanse universiteit is, is in 1982 gestig. Die drie departementshoofde van die afgelope 25 jaar was van die gaste wat die geleentheid bygewoon het. Van links is: prof. Kobus de Wet (1982-1991), prof. Gina Joubert (vanaf 1995), prof. Robert Schall (1992-1995), en prof. Gert van Zyl (Hoof van die Skool vir Geneeskunde aan die UV).
