Mark your calendar: The Faculty of Law's Human Rights celebration is approaching!

In commemoration of Human Rights Day, the Faculty of Law at the University of the Free State (UFS) is marking the occasion with a series of special events. These include a panel discussion titled Contribution of Sir Kentridge to Human Rights in South Africa and Beyond, and a public lecture titled Thirty Years of Human Rights in South Africa? Any Reason to Celebrate? – delivered by Emeritus Constitutional Court Justice Albie Sachs, promising a day of profound reflection and insight.

Sisters receive the same degree

Two sisters, Ms Elsabi Bezuidenhoudt and Ms Isabel Human, both received their master's degree in Governance and Political Transformation during this week's autumn graduation ceremony of the University of the Free State (UFS). Dr Tania Coetzee, Director of the programme Governance and Political Transformation, was the study leader to both. The subject of Ms Bezuidenhoudt’s thesis was “Apartheid and political transformation as ideologies: Differences and similarities”. Ms Human’s thesis was titled “The role of labour unions in a transformational tertiary environment: A critical analysis of the University of the Free State”. Both of them are working at the UFS. Ms Bezuidenhoudt works at the division Meeting Administration and Ms Human works at the Department Zoology and Entomology.
