The Faculty of the Humanities Centre for Gender and Africa Affairs, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Innovation, Academy of Science of South Africa, and the Edith Cowan University, will be hosting a Visiting Scholar Lecture with Prof Loretta Baldassar titled: Transnational Family Care: from social death to digital kinning over a century of Australian Migration.

Expert in microbiology at the UFS receives medal for his research

Prof. James du Preez, Departmental Chairperson of the University of the Free State's (UFS) Department of Microbial, Biochemical and Food Biotechnology was recently awarded a silver medal for exceptional original published research during the biennial congress of the South African Society for Microbiology held in Grahamstown. This is only the seventh time since 1986 the medal was awarded.
