On the Princess’s eighteen birthday, her father arranged for her to meet three possible suitors. The Princess was unsure of these plans but with the help of her camel friend, Jamaila and the all-knowing Genie Alim, they will help her to devise a plan to make her decision easier.

Everything doesn’t go according to plan, though, because of the jealous sorceress Mara who will do everything in her power to become queen of Arcadia. Come and join the princess and her friends to see what plan they will devise to help Princess Shumaila and save the kingdom from the evil sorceress.

PRESS RELEASE

The horrible western tempest, known for blowing aunties dresses in the air and exposing old men’s bald spots, blows Dorothy to the centre of Oz. For her to return back home she’ll have to visit the wonderful wizard of Oz. He is unbelievably mysterious, wonderfully indescribable, almightily magical and also the only one that will be able to send Dorothy back home. Joining her is the smart Scarecrow, looking for a brain, the lovable Tinman, desiring a heart and the brave Lion, looking for courage. What follows is an unforgettably exciting adventure through the fun and sad, the good and the bad, the bright, the dark, the friendly and the colourful Oz

Second Year Drama students, directed by Walter Strydom (known for the Boer Manie-fame) and Fiësta nominated Marli van der Bijl (Sêra Sakboude and Liewe Heksie), will take children of all ages on an unforgettable journey through Karen Combrinck’s fresh Afrikaans adaptation of the classical Oz. Follow Dorothy on the Yellow-brick-road, think along with the Scarecrow, sympathize with the Tinman and be brave along with the Lion to be victorious against the Wicked Witch of the West.
